A common solution to this pulsation problem is to fit a PipeHugger or twin-ported PulseGuard to the pump outlet, with the membrane in a straight line from the outlet valve.
Filling the dip in the flow which is caused by directional valve change over gives a constant flow velocity without pressure spikes. The frequencies are so low that even a single connection accumulator with a large unobstructed connection has time to change from flow in to flow out. The large connection accumulator should be fitted so that the pulses are directed straight at the damper diaphragm. For slurries or other systems that may need flushing, a flow-through twin-ported damper such as the PulseGuard shown is used.
